What is the first thing that comes to mind when I say networks?
Manufacturing company leaders meeting at a plant, taking a tour, and doing lunch to talk about their biggest challenges?
While networking is a valuable activity for manufacturing leaders, unfortunately, the opportunities to do so effectively are few and far between. This is particularly true for companies located away from large cities, where networking meetings tend to be more plentiful.
The end of the year is typically a time when companies look back at their finances over the past year. They often see the good, the bad and the ugly:
The good – Sales went up!
The bad – Labor and material cost went up, too!
The ugly – Profits are lower than expected!
Micki Vandeloo, Versatech Business Development Manager, and Kevin Ruholl, Versatech Engineering Manager, participated in the East Central Illinois Super Region Roundtable on 10/28/14. Versatech had a booth with information on our company as well as a presentation and video showing Versatech's full service set of solutions for manufacturers.
On Wednesday, October 22, 12 representatives from six Effingham Area companies toured Stevens Industries in Teutopolis. Randy Thoele from Stevens Industries took the group on a plant tour, highlighting areas in the plant where the Stevens' team had improved efficiencies. After the tour, Steven Industries supplied lunch for all attendees and the group shared their Lean Manufacturing experiences and asked the management team about Stevens' products, challenges and business outlook.
